How to Add a Parked and Addon Domain in cPanel
Managing multiple domains is essential for operating a website or online business. cPanel provides a user-friendly interface for adding both parked and addon domains. This guide clarifies the differences between these two types of domains and outlines the steps for adding them in cPanel.
Understanding Addon and Parked Domains
1. Addon Domain
An addon domain hosts a separate website with its own content, files, and features, distinct from your primary domain. This allows you to run multiple websites from a single hosting account without any interference.
Example:
Primary Domain: tutorialwriting.space
Addon Domain: tutorialhub.com
In this case, tutorialhub.com hosts a separate website, such as a blog, e-commerce site, or portfolio. You can set up email accounts, upload files, and manage databases independently for this domain.
2. Parked Domain
A parked domain points to your main website and displays the same content as your primary domain. This helps protect your brand and ensures that visitors can reach your site using different domain names.
Example:
Primary Domain: tutorialwriting.space
Parked Domain: tutorialwriting.net
Here, tutorialwriting.net displays the same content as tutorialwriting.space. This is useful if you own multiple extensions or alternative spellings of your primary domain, ensuring all traffic directs to your main website.
Prerequisites Before Adding Domains
Ensure that your domain’s DNS points to your MaxCyberHost nameservers. For instructions on updating nameservers, please refer to the guide How to Connect Your Domain to Your Hosting.
How to Add an Addon Domain in cPanel
- Log in to your cPanel account.
- Navigate to the Domains section and click on Domains.

- Click the Create A New Domain button.

- In the Domain field, enter the domain name you want to add (e.g., tutorialhub.com).

- Uncheck Share Document Root (/home/…) option. This ensures that the addon domain has its own folder, separate from your main site.

- cPanel will automatically generate the Document Root folder and Subdomain. You do not need to change these settings.

- Click the Submit button.

- You should see a confirmation message indicating that the addon domain has been successfully added. You can now manage this domain independently, upload your website files, and set up email accounts.
How to Add a Parked (Alias) Domain in cPanel
- Log in to your cPanel account.
- Go to the Domains section and click on Domains.

- Click the Create a New Domain button.

- In the Domain field, enter the domain name you want to park (e.g., tutorialwriting.net).

- Ensure that the Share Document Root (/home/…) option is selected.

- Click the Submit button. The parked domain will now point to your main website and display the same content.

You have successfully added both your addon domain and your parked domain in cPanel. Your addon domain hosts a separate website, while your parked domain displays the main website. Both domains are configured and ready for use. With your domains set up, you are now prepared to take full advantage of your online presence, engage visitors, and effectively promote your content.
